You ask the questions, I will travel to the source to get your answers.
I have been studying Environment and Development at American University, in Washington D.C. In an effort to share my new-found knowledge I started this blog about Africa. My class will be traveling to Ghana April 6-14th to experience African culture and learn from NGO’s, community based programs and leaders, scholars, policy makers and the average Ghanaian.
Your question + Africa’s answer = The solution to Grandma’s struggle!
As part of our assignment our class has been broken into fundraising groups for particularly effective humanitarian organizations that are struggling to keep their doors open.
From you I am asking for a donation of any size, and one well-thought question. I will take all the questions I receive to Africa, and document detailed answers coming straight from experts on developing countries, and from Africans who strive to better their continent. With detailed blogs and video clips I will show you where your donations are going.
As a result of your donations, we are going to provide relief to a woman named Grandma Stella living in the Tamale region of Ghana. About a decade ago she noticed a growing number of homeless women and took it upon herself to start a school and daycare center for young women and their children. Since her start up she has successfully given hope and meaning to hundreds of women’s lives. Her life calling has been to empower women through education and give them some economic stability by teaching them creative jobs - they make Shea butter, sew garments and are the local hair stylists. Grandma Stella opened her home to around 100 young women and 50 children, and she is in desperate need of funds.
